We The Children

Driven by his passion for the environment, Zachary launched We The Children in 2021 at just 11 years old to help kids understand and contribute to the global conversation on climate change. Zach speaks at schools and clubs advocating for environmental issues among children, has been part of Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots program for two years, and became a U.S. Ambassador for an Australian Radio Station in the summer of 2023, participating in interviews and serving as a judge in their film festival. We The Children is a Webby-nominated podcast that explores climate change and related topics with experts and activists, emphasizing children's role in environmental discussions. Teachers can integrate We The Children into their climate curriculum to engage students with educational resources on climate change and encourage them to ask meaningful questions about environmental issues, fostering awareness and action toward building a more sustainable and resilient world. So far, the podcast is integrated into a 5th-grade curriculum in an Ohio elementary school, where students listen and send postcards to Zach noting their favorite parts, and SubjectToClimateTM has made lesson plans from episodes, including Lungs of the Earth, Community Building for Climate by Kids, and Developing Climate Change Community Solutions.

Solastalgia

Solastalgia: eco-anxiety digital zine. Solastalgia is a community-based zine that aims to normalize eco- anxiety and the large spectrum of emotions that youth feel as a result of climate change. This project is an initiative under Apathy is Boring's RISE program, led by Vancouver youth. Our aim for this zine is to provide a space for artists and readers to communicate their emotions and thoughts. Solastalgia is located on the unceded, ancestral territories of the xwməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in reconciliation and collaboration.

conscient podcast - exploring art and the ecological crisis

The conscient podcast is Canadian composer Claude Schryer's personal learning journey and knowledge sharing exercise that feature conversations, newsletters, monologues and/or creations about art and the ecological crisis. Season 1 (may – october 2020) was about awareness and action. Season 2 (march – august 2021 ) explored perceptions of reality and ecological grief. Season 3 (october 2021 – february 2022) investigated radical listening. Season 4 (1 january – 31 december 2023) is called ‘sounding modernity’ and explores what modernity sounds like, how it affects us and how to ‘create the conditions for other possible worlds to emerge in the wake of what is dying’ as suggested in ‘Preparing for the end of the world as we know it’ article by the Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures collective. balado conscient - une exploration de l’art et la crise écologique

Le balado conscient est un voyage d'apprentissage personnel et un exercice de partage des connaissances du compositeur canadien Claude Schryer qui présente des conversations, des bulletins d'information, des monologues et/ou des créations sur l'art et la crise écologique. La saison 1 (mai - octobre 2020) portait sur la sensibilisation et l'action. La saison 2 (mars - août 2021) a exploré les perceptions de la réalité et le deuil écologique. La saison 3 (octobre 2021 - février 2022) a porté sur l'écoute radicale. This podcast explores the emotional burden of climate change (anxiety, grief, fear, despair) and offers resources for navigating those mental health impacts.
